Join Date: Oct 2008 Rep: ![]() | Italian and French Opera Compared to Italina opera, French opera has the following traits: use of ballet, greater importance of drama, more use of orchestral and instrumental music, shorter and simpler dance airs, more expressive, less emphasis on virtuosity and of course the French overture which became an important instrumental Baroque form. |
