The Romantic Period

The 19th century is generally known as the Romantic period, but its elements appeared before 1800 and continued well into the 20th century. There is so much overlap that some composers are considered "classical" in one account and Romantic by another - Beethoven is the best example. In fact some historians consider the Romantic period as part of the same movement.

basically it started because composeres where no longer hired by kings and churches
the church didnt provide the education of musicians anymore and goverments started conservatoria.

Beethoven is kinda like the starter of this period,
schubert, pioneer of the chamber music
mahler, great symphonies
verdi, operas

are other great composers.

I like this period more, music was no longer bound by what the church and the kings wanted to hear, the composers where free to do what they want.
In my book that is allways a good thing
