Indaba Music Launches Clips Library with Creative Commons Licensed Samples And Loops

NEW YORK - November 12, 2009 - As the leading destination for online music creation, Indaba Music (Find People. Make Music. Online - Indaba Music) is a place for musicians to find one another, create and remix music, and showcase their work. The company has launched an extensive library of over 8,000 audio clips licensed under Creative Commons, a flexible set of permissions that encourage content to be shared, remixed and repurposed by creators. Under these licenses, Indaba Music's global community of more than 300,000 musicians will have access to a wide collection of loops and samples to remix, share, and use commercially.

Accessible from both a dynamic, searchable database (Find People. Make Music. Online - Indaba Music) as well as within the company's innovative web-based digital audio workstation, musicians will be able to download the clips or add them directly to online recording sessions. The clips library opens up a vast creative resource, and represents an important step in the company's mission towards democratizing music creation.

"Our goal is to provide a flexible, comprehensive set of tools that musicians of every level can pick and choose from to fit their creative needs," says Co-CEO and Co-Founder, Dan Zaccagnino. "With our collaborative session platform, our digital audio workstation, and now with the launch of our clips library, musicians have an increasingly powerful suite of tools to support their creative processes."

To introduce its community to the clips library, Indaba Music has partnered with Filter Magazine for a unique online contest, challenging musicians to use a minimum of two clips as the foundation of an original song. The grand prize winner of the original song challenge, as determined by Filter Magazine, will be profiled in an upcoming issue, and the song will be featured in the issue's monthly digital sampler. The is just the latest in a series of remix contests featuring artists such as The Roots, Mariah Carey, Yo-Yo Ma, John Legend, Crystal Method, Alkaline Trio, and more.
