HUMTOO, a commercially focused online music marketplace, this week launched a new user-generated music library for musicians and content creators.
HUMTOO, which empowers creative partnerships between music makers and content creators, introduces those who need music to those who create it. By launching the user-generated music library, HUMTOO musicians are given the opportunity to get their music heard by content creators across the globe. This enables them to make money through performance royalties and for content creators to access original music.
The benefits of HUMTOO are far reaching for musicians and content creators alike, with the biggest difference being no middleman. The site is breaking down the traditional barriers for musicians who struggle to enter the corporate music marketplace, by providing direct access to content creators. While for producers, the site offers some refuge from hefty budget constraints by offering free music for broadcast productions. HUMTOO library music is free to use on broadcast productions that attract royalties.
HUMTOO also offers a project marketplace, where content creators can post projects, outlining their music needs, brief and available budget. The HUMTOO music making community can then pitch their music specifically for that project.
The site is the brainchild of Sydney based composer Jason Fernandez, and London TV producer, Stephen Wheen. Since creating HUMTOO in August 2008, the community has grown steadily and nearly £10,000/$20,000 worth of projects have sourced tracks to date. These projects include feature films, documentaries, TV commercials, TV channel Idents, corporate videos, web TV and TV promos, which have been broadcast across the globe.
Stephen said, "It's a tough time globally for the arts community and with our revolutionary broadcast licence we can provide a little boost. HUMTOOâ is attracting attention in all genres of music - we've seen membership of the site rise 25% this week alone. We are connecting people and making it only about the music."
HUMTOO has also launched 'HUMFEST', a development initiative for short filmmakers and music makers to work together on the site. The best film posted on HUMTOO and the best music pitched for that film will both win £450/$1,000. More info about HUMFEST can be found at humfest.humtoo.com
